I realize that it has been a long time. A LONG time. Like, three months! My only excuse is that life has been really busy! Nothing earth-shattering or worth a headline on a national newspaper... just the regular, every-day stuff. It seems that the spring half of the school-year always seems infinitely busier than the fall/winter part of the year.
Let me try to catch you up on the unbelievably exciting life of Jeanette Wesner... (haha ;-)
December
-I enjoyed a fantastic visit to Indiana for nine days. I especially enjoyed cuddling up with my nieces and nephews, reading with them, playing with them, and getting lots of hugs from each and every one of them. Catching up on the lives of my brothers and sisters was also awesome!
January
-Back to the grind at school! I tell you what, I absolutely loved visiting my family, but I sure missed my kiddos at school. Two weeks is a long time away!
-We finished up our Read-a-Thon at school and enjoyed a whole day of just reading at school. What fun! Just lounging around the classroom reading books for fun and drinking hot cocoa and hot apple cider!
February
-This month brought a little bit of a surprise for my family. :) You see, Providence Classical Christian School has a mid-winter break... something I had never heard of until I started at PCCS. So I KNEW my family wouldn't know about this extra week-long break. So I planned it allllll out.
-Since my parents often pick people up from O'Hare Airport all the time, I just called them and asked them if they could pick up someone who goes to my church. They thought they were picking up someone named "Jane" ...one of my lesser used nicknames. :) I even set up a fake e-mail address and Google Voice so that I could text them once my plane landed. Sneaky, huh? They pulled up to the curb to pick up "Jane" and, oh boy! Were they surprised! I spent a few days with my parents and then got to surprise my sisters while they were both at work. And then I got to surprise my brother, sister-in-law, and nephews. What FUN! I wish I could have made it up to visit my other sister and her kids, but a week is only so long.
-After coming back to Washington the rest of February simply flew by!
March
-March is not going any slower. We are simply whizzing through these last few months of school!
-Just this past week our school made an important decision!
Providence Classical Christian School is moving! Our current building is simply not big enough for us. My sister, my mom, my pastor's family, and another family from my Indiana church have all had a chance to visit the school, and all can attest to the fact that we are squished into our school building like sardines. All this school year we have been actively looking for a new building. God brought a new option to our attention back in January. This building almost perfectly fits all of our needs. It is over double the size of our current building, which is absolutely refreshing to think about! The church that will be leasing it to us has been very accommodating to our needs.
The hitch? There must be a hitch, right? Well, the new building happens to be quite a bit of a drive from where I currently live.
See, I currently live where the black star is. The current school building is about where the pink circle is. The new building is approximately where the orange heart is. The time it takes for me to drive from my current house to my current school building is about 17 minutes. In my current commute I am going against the traffic... an inverted commute. While most people are heading into Seattle in the morning, I am leaving. And vice versa in the afternoon.
If I were to keep living in my current house for the next school year I would have to drive over to the East Side (the east side of Lake Washington) each and every day (except for Saturdays). There are two bridges that cross over Lake Washington, or I could take the freeway up and around Lake Washington. Either way my commute would be at least doubled. I would be stuck in rush hour traffic both on the way to school and back. My drive each day would probably be between 45 minutes to 1 hour each way.
So you see, continuing to live where I am at is NOT ideal. So I am praying, praying, praying for a new home for next year. It's tricky though. Rent is super expensive out here (most apartments start at $900-$1000 a month), and the most I can afford is $400-$500 a month with my Christian school salary. I'm not complaining. And certainly not worried. You see, God has a way of providing for all of my needs. Not once has he failed me. He has always provided just what I need, just when I need it. I would just appreciate your prayers as I search for a new home with perhaps another roommate (or two max). My goal is to move into the new place at the beginning of August, so pray that he would provide a place that is affordable, safe, and close to school and church. I know he will provide just what I need for this next year!
I miss all my friends and family from the Midwest! I would love to hear from you if you have a minute to drop a note. :) Come visit anytime! We have spring weather already! :) :) :)
